SPINELESS TOO?

What’s so funny about this? Here it is, two days after Halloween and I’m suffering from PHS, Post Halloween Syndrome. In case you are wondering the word “Halloween” comes from All Hallows Eve or Evening. A Hallow is another name for a saint. And the first day of November is called All Saints Day or All Hallows Day. In Western Christian traditions, it’s a time to remember all the dead, but especially saints, martyrs and faithful Christians. In Mexico, it’s a big holiday called The Day of the Dead. “Halloween” was formed by dropping the word “All”, shortening “evening” first to e’en, and then dropping the apostrophe. The night before All Hallows Day was spent mocking and joking at the power of death. But for us, this was a very anti-climactic Halloween. The big tradition here in the US is kids going door-to-door asking for candy by saying “trick or treat”.
