What’s so funny about this? Have you ever noticed as you drive from town to town, state to state or region to region, how signs change? Not just in size and shape but in number and clarity as well. Over the last hundred years automobiles, trucks and buses have become ubiquitous, that is everywhere, road signs have pretty much become standard, at least within the same country. Due to language differences road signs will vary significantly from country to country especially if they have different measurement systems such as metric. This is true even of English speaking countries. Nevertheless, size and shape will be similar enough so that as you travel you can probably figure out what the signs mean even if they are different from the ones you are used to. One interesting feature is the move away from words to symbols. This is especially helpful to those drivers who don’t speak the language of a country in which they may be driving. This particular joke is an excellent pun on the word “
