MELLO CELLOS
What’s so funny about this? At first glance you might think this is a Tai Chi Class where all the participants are sitting down. They do kind of look like they are practicing the ancient Chinese martial art form that is very popular not just in China but throughout the world. However upon closer inspection, these people are not mimicking animal fighting stances. Instead they are miming the playing of orchestra instruments, specifically cellos and basses. I did scour the web for a photo of an entire fake orchestra but all I could find were cartoon orchestras, whose members were jungle animals. I didn’t think they fit the bill. So I had to settle for a partial string section, which normally would include violins and violas in addition to the cellos and bass violins you see being mimed in the photograph accompanying this joke. The word “symphony” came from Latin and into English by way of French. It means a “harmony” of sounds. A group of musical instruments playing these musical compos
