HAPPY 4th!
What’s so funny about this? OK, this one is serious, it’s not a joke. Today is the 4th of July, America’s birthday and I have for you an anagram, a remixing of the letters of the “Declaration of Independence.” This is the document that was signed on this day in 1776. I’m not a super-patriot and I don’t believe in the concept of “My country, right or wrong.” This country has done many things I am ashamed of, however it’s done many good things too, among them was to grant my parents and me citizenship and saving our lives by allowing us to emigrate here. Two hundred and thirty-nine years ago it did another good deed; it declared its independence based on some extremely important principles and ideals, that ALL people have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The “Founding Fathers” were human as are we. They had their faults as do we.
