What’s so funny about this? We all know that humor is completely subjective; it depends on your mood when you encounter a joke or situation. If others share your mood or interpretation then it’s even better. Of course there are many other factors, such as a shared culture, a good delivery if aural, well-written if read. Puns are even harder to get people to laugh at. It rarely happens. Usually the most/best you can hope for is a loud groan. Today I was in the right mood for this joke and I groaned appropriately. I also took a little artistic license and made it into a “Dad joke”. These are the extra corny jokes that fathers impose on their kids and wives who usually hate them as they groan and roll their eyes, upon hearing the punch-lines. So we see an older man asking his son a question. You can tell by the son’s look and posture that he knows a joke is coming, in particular, a riddle. The question itself is kind of ridiculous
