GET STRAIGHT

Doctor Bloom, who was known for miraculous cures for arthritis, had a waiting-room full of people. Rudy, a little old man, completely bent over in half, shuffled in slowly, leaning on his cane. When his turn came, Rudy went into the doctor's office, and emerged within fifteen minutes walking completely erect, with his head held high. Another man in the waiting room who had seen all this said to the Rudy, "It's a miracle! You walked in bent in half and now you're walking erect. What did the doctor do?” Rudy answered, "Miracle, shmiracle. . . he gave me a longer cane."

What’s so funny about this? This joke was sent to me along with a bunch of ethnic jokes and, as you know, I generally refrain from this kind of humor, at least in the stuff I post. In private, it’s another matter and I confess I love ethnic jokes. But this one, I felt was generic enough so that if I changed a name here and there, it wouldn’t be as ethnic. Bottom line – it’s funny no matter the ethnicity of the characters
