It was recently discovered that research causes cancer in rats.

What’s so funny about this? How many times in the last 15-20 years have you heard or read the statement that laboratory tests on rats have shown that eating or drinking such and such to excess, caused cancer in rats? It was said about coffee, alcohol, saturated fats, salt, sugar, and even tobacco. Imagine how many rats got cancer in these experiments. It’s a sad fact that frogs, dogs, cats, mice, rats and chimpanzees are often sacrificed to medical experiments trying to show that one food or another causes cancer. There are laws forbidding experimentation on humans, but animals are perfectly legal. What does that say about us? How much suffering has been caused in the name of science and progress and research? The reason this joke is funny, is because over the years so many things were tested on rats to show a connection to cancer.
