What’s so funny about this? In the last 25 years there have been all sorts of diseases and conditions that didn’t seem to be around when I was growing up. Foremost and most scary among these is AIDS. Today we have the Ebola virus, the latest in a bunch of new viruses that have mutated recently, some even from Chinese chicken farms. This joke makes fun of a condition that was probably around before computers but not well known or publicized. That condition is carpal tunnel syndrome. It comes from repetitive motion of your fingers and lower arm such as you get when you’re on a computer all day long. The telltale sign of someone suffering from this condition is the fancy wrist band or device they wear on both arms. These devices can even encompass the palms and fingers to some extent. They are designed to relieve the stress of the repetitive motion.
