What’s so funny about this? This short little joke is actually a rephrasing of a well-known common proverb, “he who laughs last laughs best”. Getting the last laugh is actually about getting even or getting revenge on someone who has either laughed at you, or played a joke on you and embarrassed you, or did something to cause you harm. Let’s say you were playing poker and you lose a big hand or a big pot to someone who was bluffing, pretending to have good cards when they really didn’t. To add insult to injury, to make matters worse, this guy then laughs at you and calls you a loser. Maybe you’re almost broke but you decide to play just a little bit more with what little money you have left. The cards are dealt; the betting is heavy and in the end it’s down to just you and the guy who beat you in the previous hand. You bluff and pretend that you have a lousy hand in order to encourage him to make a big bet. He does, convinced you’re bluffing, but you weren’t bluffing you had the highes
