What’s so funny about this? This is supposed to be a limerick and it is that and more. It’s also a cool tongue-twister and you really have to play with the meter or rhythm to get it to sound right - at least I did. The two main characters have names that are on the old side and that you don’t hear too much of anymore. The guy’s name is Bee-Bee. This is an uncommon spelling. I believe B--i-b-i is more common. I’ve known several people with this name, including the present Prime Minister of Israel. It’s his nick name but with a different spelling. An actress with whom I was in therapy was named Bibi. And I had a boss once with that as his last name. Phoebe, is of course, a bit more common because of the “Friends” TV show. In the 50’s there was a TV show entitled “Dear Phoebe”, starring Peter Lawford, about a man pretending to be a woman giving advice on love in a daily newspaper column.
