What’s so funny about this? It doesn’t get much simpler than this joke. And yet…and yet, I had to read it three times before I got it. The reason is that the first sentence is such a recognizable phrase that’s used as the introduction to thousands of jokes, quite a number of which, we’ve done here at WhatSoFunny. Every time I read it, my mind jumped ahead in anticipation of whatever was going to happen IN the bar. A “bar” is an establishment for the consumption of alcoholic beverages. It can be called a pub, a saloon, a lounge, whatever, it’s still about drinking booze and talking and acting crazy. That’s why people drink, mostly to lose their inhibitions and let loose. So why was the third guy ducking? At first, I thought I misread it and the third guy was actually a duck rather than a guy. That would be very normal for this kind of joke. But upon re-reading, I saw that a guy really did duck and it was not a duck going into a bar. And then it hit me, when I asked why the third guy was
