Our Roots

This set, “Our Roots,” was recorded live at a party with old friends. People I used to go out with all the time in the 2000s.

It had been a long time since we were all together like that.

I had prepared absolutely nothing.

So I started playing the tracks and artists that took us straight back to those nights: Laurent Garnier, Oxia, Roger Sanchez, Junior Jack, Armand Van Helden, Niels Van Gogh, Cherrymoon Trax and more.

What made it special was seeing my best friends completely lose themselves in those old records again. The tracks we used to dance to until the early morning. Watching their faces, seeing them recognise a song and then disappear into it all over again. For a few hours, it honestly felt as if we were twenty years younger again. Back when we went out without thinking about tomorrow. Before all the responsibilities, schedules and children.

Friendship, memories, music and that feeling again. When we were young, wild and free.

These were our roots.
