Strung Out

To counter the increasing shallowness of modern life, I’m proud to present Strung Out. Strung Out is a paean to the deep side, promoting introspective navel-gazing to such an extent that knitting your navel lint into a throw for the couch will seem feasible.

It’s deep house with strings featuring prominently as well as some funky basslines and jazzy keys providing moral and emotional support. It’s a kind of electric blanket for the southern winter months (despite the first track being the summeriest track of all tracks). If you know Kevin Yost’s style, you’re on the right track – there are three Yost tracks in here.

Tracks 6-11 form the basis of the mix, more strings than Fort Lauderdale beach. Swings out of the strings and on to a jazzy tip with my favourite track on the album – Corrado Alunni’s Improvisation. We have a short side-step into some hip-house before finishing off with a few melodic house numbers and then ending with two haunting tracks, Whisper and Only You.
