Playing tracks by
Kevin Ayers, Traffic, Pink Floyd, Faust, Tyrannosaurus Rex and more.
A collection of favourite psychedelic and experimental tracks from the 1960s and 70s. These are mostly tracks that I played in my bedroom in my late teens and early 20s, but have remained firm favourites throughout my life. My Dad introduced me to a lot of it.. He would play me Soft Machine and Pink Floyd records and introduced me to the wonderful world of psychedelia. He mostly focussed on British tracks, and I am glad of that, because it seemed a little more avant grade and eccentric. There was a bit of Zappa, I can remember the cassette of "Hot Rats" in the car, but it was artists like Traffic, Robert Wyatt and Eno that really inspired me in those years. It is undeniably beautiful and interesting music.
This is quite a mellow collection on the whole, not without humour and intelligence in the lyrics as well as the sounds. It was done, well mainly just because I fancied the idea, but also tied in with a Birthday party, and it went down rather well. I hope you enjoy it too.
