Punk Jazz

It’s forty years since two seven clashed and Bob Marley recorded "Punky Reggae Party” as a tribute to the UK punks. The punk movement in the UK lived hard and died young, but like an earthquake it left aftershocks. It had kicked down the musical door and post-punk came running through the void. Post-punk fused the naiveté of punk rock with an avant-garde awareness that took punk's energy and melded it with electronic music, free jazz, funk, disco, and dub. This mix showcases some artists who used jazz to expand punk’s energy in new ways. Jazz is the teacher, punk is the preacher!
