I DJ'd for the first time professionally at a Navy Base in Puerto Rico a long time ago. Years later, tired of carrying CDs to work I came across a streaming platform and started to listening. But, I was not hearing what I wanted to hear. So, I started my own channel featuring weekly live 5-6 hour multi-genre mix sets. After about a decade I switched over to MixCloud.

WBPM NetRADIO is the banner under which I continue to create #Multi-genre sets featuring non-stop mixes and remixes of old school and rare alternate #R&B, #House Music, #Jazz, #Funk, #Ambient grooves, #Reggae, #World beat songs. I create sets for workouts, thinking, working and playing.

Drop me a comment. I'd love to read your thoughts and sonic ideas are welcome. I want to also thank you for stopping by and listening because you prove we are more connected globally than "some" would lead us to believe. Remember that.

Stay You,
Bob (A.K.A. "DJ Whatshisname")

Stand...

by WBPMNetRADIO

I just wanted you to know my latest set "Stand..." is streaming!

Sometimes I need some sonic re-enforcement, re-fortification, a "re-up" of sorts. Even though the words comes out, sometimes folks don't get "it". And sometimes their "not getting it" does get tiring. So, sometimes I say nothing at all.

Do any of you feel like that?

In order to get a point across or exchange an idea, I may resort to sounds and or images from time to time.
Right now I choose sound (I used an image with this post simply because the opportunity existed.)

For my latest set (just published - hint, hint), I reached back and pulled up some of my favorite cuts and played with them a bit. Hope you were able to see the latest Questlove documentary. (I learn something new every day...)

I am reminded of how Sly & The Family Stone cuts made me feel when they first came out. I played with some of them in this set. (By the way... I slipped in some newer cuts as well.)

To me, it feels I unconsciously picked tracks that were either ironically timely or timeless for this set. The genres (#house, #funk, Old School #Hip hop, #R&B and even some #Jazz) used in this set cut through time... Yet speak so much to what I see "today".

Someone asked and the answer is:
Yes, there is a sub-text or theme to some of the sets. Thanks for asking!

Think about it while you enjoy these beats...

Stay you,
Peace.

(Yeah, that's an AI image up top...I wanted to see what it could do...)
