We’re taking a closer look at Colour Years, an exhibition bringing Sanlé Sory’s rarely seen colour photographs to the UK for the first time.
One of West Africa’s most prolific photographers, Sory has spent over six decades documenting youth culture, fashion, nightlife and everyday life in Burkina Faso. His archive offers an intimate record of a country and generation finding its own rhythm in the years following independence.
Ahead of the exhibition opening, we’re joined by Youssra Manlaykhaf, Digital Manager at The Photographers’ Gallery, to explore Sory’s archive, the cultural world captured within these images and the stories behind bringing *Colour Years* to life.
Colour Years: Sanlé Sory opens at @thephotographersgallery from 14 October 2026 until late February 2027.
