During the year 2013, a fire consumed my parent’s attic.
The losses mainly concerned things of sentimental value, the attic often being the refuge for memories.
The recovery we undertook, my parents and I, from the rubble probably aroused in me an attraction for ruins, abandoned things and degradation.
The group Boards of Canada was the starting point of an intense research in the invocation of loss aesthetics , deterioration of sound.
«Let’s call it a hauntology, This logic of ghost ...» writes the philosopher Jacques Derrida in Spectres de Marx, and although I did not possess the philosophical tools to understand the entirety of his complex thought, the idea of a hauntology, a time out of joint, seemed to be in harmony with the ghostly aesthetics exposed by authors like Simon Reynolds or Mark Fisher.
