Description

Two Circles

Two early works, from the beginning of the nineties, bound by the same form and by a single technique—oil with material inserts—that I still carry with me. Two twin works, yet conceptually heterozygous, paradoxically connected by a common symbol of generation: the egg. Two metaphors and two “actors” for each painting: in the first, both are described; in the second, one can only be intuited.

Amor and Psyche (oil on wood with material inserts)

Satisfaction of the senses, a hunger for love that devours the other until swallowing them whole. Every creature waits with longing for the moment when the match lights up the beloved’s face, only to turn into a will-o’-the-wisp: brief, intense… a tremor that dissolves into ashes.

Befriedigung der Sinne, eine Liebeshunger, der den anderen verzehrt, bis er ihn ganz verschlingt. Jedes Wesen wartet gierig auf den Augenblick, in dem das Streichholz das Gesicht des Geliebten erhellt, um sich in ein Irrlicht zu verwandeln: kurz, intensiv … ein Beben, das sich in Asche verwandelt.

Amore e Psiche (olio su tavola con inserti materici)
Appagamento dei sensi, fame d'amore che divora l'altro fino a ingoiarlo. Ogni creatura attende bramosa l'attimo in cui il cerino illumina il volto dell'amato per tramutarsi in fuoco fatuo, breve, intenso... un fremito che si tramuta in cenere.
