Joanna, Ruari and Sidney look back to the theme that started it all in March 2020: "Fantasy Realm - what music conveys its own unique world?"

Both Sidney’s pick (Ys by Joanna Newsom) and Joanna’s pick (Peasant by Richard Dawson) take us to medieval-inspired kingdoms of imagination which leave clues about contemporary human interaction, albeit in very different ways.

Ruari’s pick on the other hand – World of Echo by Arthur Russell – approaches the theme more metaphorically, opening up the discussion to the affective potentials of music and allowing us to think about who gets remembered in histories of experimental music, and why certain people might use music to carve out alternative (and often utopian) spaces.
