Hideous Control Now

I recently rediscovered this compilation in a box of old CD-R's collecting memories in the back of my hallway closet. It was, as these recordings were more often than not designed to do, constructed to impress a girl. I don't know if it ever did.

This carefully curated conglomeration of disparate songs ranging from Belle & Sebastian, The Incredible Bongo Band, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Roxy Music, et al. was some sort of attempt, I imagine, to give the intended listener an idea of my musical appreciation and cleverness. Well, I felt lofty and clever when making it, anyway. The rudimentary collage cover artwork was intended to be a throwback to album covers of the 50's and 60's, while the title was cribbed from an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (from the "Pod People" episode, to be exact).

Was the listener impressed? I dunno. Maybe...? That was a long time ago now.
