From the ephemeral en masse of 60’s girl pop, bubblegum, countrypolitan, and northern soul comes a collection of songs by pioneering women of Europid descent who broke through music industry barriers at a time when the glass ceiling seemed more like an iron plate. In recording studios across the US like RCA’s Studio B, Capitol Records Studio A, and Gold Star, these women were “inconveniently reasonable” in their pursuits of artistic achievement, and in turn, helped pave the way for generations of young women to explore and challenge their own creative interests. Today, women are seen in leadership roles for music festivals and music labels as well as in production and distribution roles like the Women's Independent Labels Distributors (WILD). She has come a long way since that time, but if the current climate is any indication, there is much further to go: more than sex, she is a force.
