The Update- March 6th

From New York, the greatest city in the world, it's The Update with Brandon Julien! It seems like these days, the Bronx is burning. Not burning to the ground like it was in the 1970's, but the recent spike in apartment building fires is worrying.

Some stories talked about on today's show were:

1. 1 person was killed and 14 others were hurt in an apartment fire in the Bronx. The fire broke out around 6:15 a.m. inside the second floor of the Holland Avenue building and quickly spread throughout the building. There were reports that people had jumped out of windows to escape the flames.

2. Three men received prison sentences in the widespread college basketball recruiting scandal that has tainted two dozen schools.

3. Police say an officer has shot and wounded a suspect in Harlem while responding to a report of a man armed with a gun. It happened inside an apartment complex on West 114th Street just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect was hospitalized in stable condition.
