Dancehall Malfunction

Dancehall Malfunction

00:00

This mix takes inspiration from the dark side of dub music - foreboding, heavy basslines that echo in the dark corners of dingy dancefloors. Dub music, in all its iterations, holds this singular power to build an ominous atmosphere in the club. This mix incorporates dub-inflected music from 1987-2023, including the subaquatic dub techno of Demdike Stare and Porter Ricks, UK bassline mainstays Africa HiTech and King Midas Sound, and the grimiest New York illbient from We, Sub Dub, and Byzar, amongst many others.
