Body Talk: Slick Boogie, Rare Soul & 80's Electro-Funk | Seawind | Leon Ware | The Equals
00:00
Nearly two hours that starts in 1975 and walks, unhurried, into the boogie years.
Eddie Kendricks takes the first six and a half minutes with "Body Talk" without sounding rushed. Teddy Pendergrass asks where all his friends went, and Pleasure's "Glide" is where it first moves.
The middle is jazz-funk played by people who could play - Leon Ware, George Duke, Don Blackman, Seawind - then Rose Royce tips it into the eighties and Phyllis Hyman arrives with "Don't Tell Me, Tell Her".
It stays up: The Equals, Earth, Wind & Fire's "Serpentine Fire" dropped in without ceremony, and Gwen McCrae closing with "All This Love I'm Giving".
