"Why don't you tell us what your purpose is, Worth?" - CUBE (1997)
As you traverse from surface to surface, rotating about the center of your environment, you begin to feel the boundaries of a cube, one that you’re inside, but unsure of it’s depth or contents. Slowly, like clockwork, deep metal growls creep around you. Suddenly, there is the recognizable sweeping of light and hope, right there in front of you! It escapes your sight, and you’re lost again in the maze. Time passes. Companions come and go. Distant visions of light dancing tease you. And still, you can’t find the way through. Then suddenly, right in front of you again, light! It sweeps through the cube, wind piercing holes in the walls. As the light fades and the ruined walls remain, there is the ominous hum of the world you once knew outside around you. You realize you were here all along, just waiting to see through the trap.
