So towards the end of Summer 2009 I had attended enough parties with enough DJs spinning the same records I owned to know I could probably make a pretty good go of it with the records I had been collecting in my decade in Philly. I made one last trip down to Florida and maxed out my first credit card purchasing and shipping as many club, electro and bass LPs as I could fit in a suitcase back to Philly. I sat down with my roland, two brand new tech 1200s and my trusty DJM800, which I was now a pro at. I used my cellphone text message reading function and a microphone to do all of the drops, and approximately 8 takes later at 5 or 6 in the morning [and to the dismay of my sleeping exgirlfriend] I emerged with BOOK IT!
Book it was a 7 track mixed CD designed to showcase the different sets I could be booked to play: Indie Rock, Dance + Electro, World/DJs [broad, right?!], Hip-Hop + Mash Up [shit was hot!] & Old School + New Wave [the real passions.]
This was the birth of 'DJ Ruxbin'
