Continuing the forage through dusty bygone mixtapes, the latest instalment of the aRchive series features a competition winning mix. This mix was submitted to Bristol's premiere progressive/underground house promotion Empathy. Empathy was run by Stuart Wilkinson, and at the time, was a long running residency at (then named) Bar Latino.
I won the chance to play an opening set on a night headlined by Jonathan Lisle. Jonathan, in 2004 had just been signed to Bedrock as part of their emerging talent series OS mix compilation.
I like to think that playing that set with him was our 'sliding doors' moment and in an alternative reality we are both headlining closing parties at Privilege in Ibiza. Instead he's now a lawyer and I sell fake meat for a living.
Still, it's a fun mix with some fantastic prog house. Enjoy.
