Great music again John.I see Resonance played one of Frank Key's shows last week before yours.Really miss him. What was the dialogue at the beginning of the show. Was it from a film?Had me cracking up.
It's from the 1969 Italian movie Venus In Furs (no, not the Jesús Franco film, this one is directed by Massimo Dallamano and is also known as Devil In The Flesh. Confusingly, there's yet another film called Venus In Furs, from 1967 by Joe Marzano). It's described as an 'erotic drama' but I almost fell asleep watching it.
I engineered Frank's show for about nine years. Used to have a lot of very interesting conversations with him. I miss him a lot.
Thanks for the explanation. The only Venus In Furs I know is the Velvet Underground one. Also, the late bass player for Gary Numan,Paul Gardiner did a version released on Numan's Numa label I will check the film out.
Indeed, Frank was a one-off.I know Resonance was continuing airing his shows after he passed.a while ago.In fact most shows on Resonance continue to be excellent and Resonance Extra is great too.Unbelievable content. That's what got me listening to it in the first place.Came across it by accident in 2002 whilst tuning around the FM dial trying to find something better and i found it.
The Velvets song was based on the 1870 novella by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch (from whom the word 'masochist' is derived); those films I mentioned are loosely based on the book too. Who says Pull The Plug isn't educational?
