Latin Waves - 23rd April 2017

A bilingual programme (English & Spanish) presented by critic and producer Javier Chandía which covers Latin American music from its roots to the avant-garde. This week: an interview with the magnificent singer and dancer Totó La Momposina who has earned respect and admiration in many parts of the world. Her work is informed and inspired by a rich cultural mix that combines elements from African, Native Indian and Spanish traditions, from Colombia. In 1982 she accompanied Gabriel Garcia Marquez to Stockholm to perform at his Nobel Prize ceremony.
