It's always nice to hear The Flying Lizards get some love. OMD are one of those groups where I know very little of their music outside of the hit, from Pretty In Pink soundtrack, which makes me want to gag. But everything I hear from them that isn't that song, I generally like. Love the lesser-known punk inclusions like The Lurkers and Eater! Great show 👍
😦*Gasp!!! How dare you tarnish the best 80s teeny-bopper rom-com of all time!!! Hahaha! But, I know what you mean... That was my least favorite song on the soundtrack! In all seriousness, OMD are extremely talented. They have some pretty epic pieces. I feel that way about a lot of those new wave pop bands of the time. Modern English is another one. They're basically only known for their hit song, "I Melt With You," from the Valley Girl Soundtrack, another 80s classic 😂, but they are much better than that! Anyway... I rant... Thanks, Josh! Lotsa goodies this time around, but I want to single out "Hully Gully Calling Time," because it's one of my favorite songs and favorite lead vocals. Your version is different than the one I have, though! On yours, lead singer Eugene Pitt sings "do the Hula Hoop," and on mine he sings "do the Frank Sinatra!" There are also other differences, but either way, that vocal is fantastic: long live The Jive Five! I liked that Zappa "rap," but that sure sounded like the voice of Beefheart rather than Zappa (as opposed to the Voice of Cheese.) Rave On!
