Hello, everyone! It's Women Rock Wednesday once again and in today's episode,
we are honoring the memory of a wonderfully talented singer, actress, and muse,
Madame, Jane Birkin, may she RIP. β₯ I'm starting off the show by playing one of my
favorite singles, "Apocalypstick!" Such an inspiration to so many people, this show

Beautiful set ; I saw SHAKIN'STREET in 1976 ! in the south west of France at the first PUNK FESTIVAL in the ARENA of MONT-DE-MARSAN 2days (unbelievable....) the first part was ROCK and the second part was PUNKROCK . I don't know Jane Birkin well, so looking forward to hearing this!
As mentioned before, she's known for a lot of things but she attained international fame and notability for her decade-long musical and romantic partnership with Serge Gainsbourg. She also had a prolific career as an actress, mostly in French cinema, and she was a Fashion Icon of the 60s & 70s! I only have the titled song in this episode as I just found out of her passing (7/16/23), but had to do something to pay my respects. So, this ep. is dedicated to her more so than being a tribute, I suppose. But, I will be watching a couple of her movies later on in tribute! π€

Yeah, I found out only minutes after posting this show... I was a huge fan and have played her music multiple times in previous WRW shows. I mean, she was like the epitome of the ultimate 90s female rocker! So, you can def expect next week's program dedicated to SinΓ©ad O'Connor. #RIP π€
