Get down with these heavy sounds from West Africa!
This one's a doozy. Took me months to get the right records in place, yet listening back to it now I still feel like it was a bit undercooked, and I somewhat regret making certain song choices. Plus, as much as I say it's West African, that's just hedging because I have one song from a group from Benin (Ogassa) and one from Ivory Coast (N'Draman Blintch) - yet even they recorded in Lagos and Enugu, respectively. Everyone else in the mix is Nigerian.
I'm still quite fond of this mix, but I think it's worth me giving the theme another run sometime in the future - though it may be hard to avoid repeats when some of my all-time favorite funk tracks are here.
