11 year old Elodie Gray from Bristol received a heart transplant as a baby at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle after a life-threatening diagnosis. The national NHS ‘Hope Takes Flight’ social media video campaign features her story alongside families who have faced organ donation heartbreak and hope. It comes as a record number of people, more than 8,000, face Christmas waiting for an organ transplant – including more than 250 children.
Families are urged to confirm their support for organ donation and talk about their decision to help save lives .
Richard Finch caught up with Elodie, her dad Colin and specialist nurse Lynn Robson to find out more.
