As the independent or alternative press seem to be under attack as of late I thought I'd add my two nickles. As the military-industrial infrastructure of the world has billions of dollars to gain by steering consumers toward their products ... why does anyone believe a word from the news programs they sponsor? The truth they sell is a conflict of interest by design. It always has been.
Now, these same corporate behemoths are stating that information sources not using the standard advertising models are not actually independent but COMMUNIST!
The only difference I see between the politics of Communism and the mechanics of capitalism is the free market place ... and most sociologists agree that that died in the 1950's.
It seems co-opting the terms "alternative" and "indie" did nothing to slow the movement down ... so they want to abolish it all together.
Good luck trying that.
