Limonada e Soul

Limonada e Soul is a laid-back set built around the warm, breezy side of Brazilian music. Bossa Nova is the thread running through it, but the mix wanders naturally into samba, soul, jazz, funk and R&B.

There’s a little João Gilberto, Jorge Ben Jor, Banda Black Rio and Gilberto Gil alongside J Dilla, Janelle Monáe, Esperanza Spalding, Pharrell and others. Some Brazilian records, some American records, and a lot of shared DNA.

I’m less interested in keeping genres in their lanes than in following a groove wherever it leads. This one stays more or less mellow, with the rhythms gradually getting a little deeper and more playful as it goes. Music for a slow afternoon, a drink at the bar, or whenever you want the room to feel a little more tropical.
