For the fourteenth Phreak Power Podcast, @Shantih arranged a gentle 18-track Mixtape in an effort to seek solace amidst the recent vicious election. Created under the stress and pressure of managing a political campaign, the composition of “Interregnum” served as a brief respite from the noise of our virulent national discourse. It is the third and final installment of “The Elegy Tapes,” a mixtape series which @Shantih hopes will console and inspire.
“Interregnum” contains a somber selection of ambient, electronic, and free jazz by the likes of Aphex Twin, Bill Evans, Bobby Hutcherson, Brian Eno, Floating Points, Flying Lotus, Jon Hopkins, and more… Throughout the mixtape, Shantih incorporates spoken word recordings including interviews, poetry, and soundbytes featuring President-Elect Joe Biden, Carl Sagan, Dr. Cornel West, Charlie Chaplin, Sir Michael Caine, Bertrand Russell, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Seamus Heaney.
