Dear Mixcloud friends

I hope you are all doing well! Thank you very much for the great support and the many motivating comments during my first vinyl only Downtempo session CHILL YOURSELF.

I am happy to present you my latest vinyl only show DESIRE. This session is an emotional journey away from everyday life to a beautiful place with wonderful Deep House, Melodic House, Organic House Music. In my active DJ career, I was lucky enough to play at a boat party once and ride off into the sunset. When I recorded this set I felt transported back to that incredible party.

I wish you a great week, thank you very much for listening and if you like, I would also be very happy about a comment how you enjoyed the trip.

Cheers Phil

WOW Phil… Your mix DESIRE truly transcends sound, it’s like a breath for the soul, taking us into another realm entirely. While listening, I found myself genuinely wishing that your deepest desires come true… because the beauty you’ve shared deserves that kind of magic in return. The track selection is simply sublime, every sound felt like it had purpose, heart, and mystery. And mixing on vinyl? With such seamless transitions? That’s the touch of a true artist. I’m honestly speechless… I didn’t even realize 1h20 had passed ! This was more than a mix, it was an atmosphere, an experience. I LOVED IT ! Thank you for the journey 🙏✨🎶❣️**

Wow dear Ineshka what a wonderful and heartwarming feedback. I am very pleased that you enjoyed my journey and that I was able to take you with me on my musical path. In principle, you describe exactly what my goal is with such sessions: Not to get more followers, likes or whatever, not even a new career, I was already allowed to do that actively for 20 years. Sharing my passion for this music and inspiring others, like you, with it is the greatest gift. With every session I give a piece of my soul. I think it's great that you recognise and honour this. But your own sessions are also like that because they come from the heart paired with great talent. That's what makes working as a DJ so special, whether digital or analogue. Thank you for giving up your precious time for my session. ❤️🙏👍🤩😀 Je te souhaite un weekend merveilleux et reposant. Je me réjouis de pouvoir écouter ta dernière session jusqu'à la fin. 🏝️🙏

@Phil_Moreno Dear Phil, Thank you so much for your sincere feedback. Yes, we feel that each session carries a part of you, and that's exactly what I appreciate in a DJ: this ability to convey an emotion, a true journey, to express one's world or a situation through sound.
Yes, I fully share your vision. I've been mixing for a long time, but not often, especially for the dance routines, but I only started sharing here occasionally about two years ago, after stopping dancing following a significant event. At first, a little lost, I accepted offers from several radio stations or magnificent collaborations without really knowing where I wanted to go. Today, I'm refocusing on what suits me. My approach to music is very intuitive: I feel the sounds before thinking about their style. I classify by atmosphere, by energy, never really by genre, which is why my mixes can bring together several styles.😅
Sometimes I take breaks to travel or explore other passions, but music never leaves me. I don't post everything: some mixes are just for me or my loved ones.
Like you, I'm not looking for likes or visibility, just the sincere pleasure of sharing, listening, and artistic exchange, the pleasure of responding freely and spontaneously to kind comments while remaining myself. I can't just say thank you, for the one who spent their time listening and writing a nice comment, because it's not my temperament. And when it becomes a pressure, I withdraw a little. My empathy, and perhaps also my experience, allows me to understand people's personalities; nothing can be perfect in all cases. That's all about my experience here, if I could summarize it well enough to respond to your point of view!
Thank you again for your kind exchange, listening and your beautiful philosophy. I'm delighted to meet artists like you here. I wish you a wonderful and inspiring weekend. 🌅🎧With all my gratitude 🙏 🫶✨🎶

@ineshka Thank you dear Ineshka for your sincerity, your honest opinion and feedback. I appreciate this very much.

I'm right there with you and think it's great that you're going your own way so clearly and know exactly what you want. It's the kind of DJ I really appreciate and have internalised myself. Over 30 years ago, when I got my first gigs, quite classically by sending out cassettes, and started DJing, I was increasingly told by the organisers what I had to play. I could have gone to one of the biggest festivals in Europe at the time, but only on the condition that I played trance. But I didn't want to do that. At the same time, I played a few times in one of the most famous techno clubs in our country at the time, when I was also told that I could continue playing but had to switch to house. I didn't want that either.

I didn't want to commit myself to a style and certainly not to something that was imposed on me by anyone. Many people told me at the time that I was ruining my career. Because the ones who did that actually took off. But that's true for me because music is more for me than just playing something for someone else so that everyone is happy. I've gone my own way, less glorious but looking back the right way for me. I never did it for money, fame, status or whatever. On the contrary, I loved the time when the DJ could play his music somewhere in the club, barely visible, and everyone listened to the music and not the person playing it. I never saw myself as the centre of attention, but always the music. That's exactly why I think your point of view is so great and I hear it from you in every session.

I joined Mixcloud about two years ago because it was the only platform that didn't take down my sessions and, according to Mixcloud's FAQs, it's obviously legal because royalties are supposedly paid. Let's hope this is the case so that the great producers and artists of these tracks can also benefit from it.

For me personally, it has been worth it so far because I can listen to so many great artists like you and even exchange ideas with them all. So far I haven't experienced the typical social media hating either. I hope it stays peaceful. The many great comments are wonderful and show me that some people also like the music I play. It doesn't matter to me whether it's 100 or 1 person.

Apart from that, I've been asked several times by radio stations, but I simply don't have the time and want to be free in this case. It should be fun without pressure. In my real life, I've been working as a CEO for many years, so I don't have that much time left over in addition to my family.

I don't understand what the host is all about, but I'm old-fashioned 😂 I only play vinyl on a Pioneer mixer that's over 20 years old and record my sessions on CD. Very old fashioned 🙈 But it seems to work that way too 😎

Thank you for this great exchange, your wonderful music and I hope that you will continue on your path as unperturbed as before. Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend! 🏝️🙏💪👍🤩😀

@Phil_Moreno Dear Phil, I'm finally taking a moment to reply to you. The crushing heat and stifling air in Paris these past few days have drained me a little of my energy! But honestly, your message touched me deeply, because I identify with it on many levels.
Like you, I've played in clubs and private parties where specific styles were sometimes imposed on me. I've always tried to meet these expectations, but in my own way, gradually sliding toward sounds that are uniquely my own. Sometimes, I create what I call my sonic "flower salad": a subtle transition toward more melodic atmospheres that I like. And often, people get carried away without even realizing it, discovering sounds they might never have heard otherwise and that they love. I've always said it's important to listen to appreciate and not limit yourself to one style! As you can see, I mix different styles, but with emotions and melodies that suit my mood!
I totally share your point of view on artistic freedom. I recently put a big project on hold because the pressure was getting too much. I don't like that kind of dynamic, because for me, mixing should remain a pleasure to share, not a constraint. I always try to create an atmosphere, to listen to those who dance, but without denying what truly speaks to me.
Like you, I have a side job that requires a lot of concentration, which limits my availability for mixing. It's tiring to mix on weekends, so I do it when I feel like it.
Thank you for your true and humble message and for this valuable exchange. It's inspiring to read about such a coherent and true-to-yourself journey. I hope you continue to thrive in what you do, always at your own pace, to flourish with your art, your projects, and your family, while keeping this passion alive. Big respect to you Phil and thank you again 🙏💫😊🫵🎶✨🫶

@ineshka Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate the open, honest and inspiring exchange with you. Oh yes, I've read in the media that it's unbearably hot in Paris at the moment. Fortunately, here in Zurich it's a bit cooler than yours at 35 degrees. Despite the heat, I wish you lots of creative ideas, a peaceful and relaxing week and I'm really looking forward to your next artistic highlight. Take care and best wishes from Zurich 💪🕺👍🤩😀
