"Hello my name is John T & I’m an alcoholic. It feels like lifetimes ago I was living at the bottom of a bottle, but almost like yesterday I ran Minneapolis' Hot Licks Records. The photo you're looking at is from our '79 Booze Crooze'. I'm on the bottom right in the blue satin jacket with the big, beautiful hair. Everyone from Randy Wexler (at the bottom in shades) to the right is Hot Licks and everyone to the left is Harpo's Records. We'd meet up in Dead Horse Bay at Mort's dry dock & stuff his cruising yacht with as much beer & Hard A as we could fit.
And the drugs! This group didn't stop at ludes, coke & poppers. No. This was an experimental psychedelic cook-off from homemade recipes. I'm not sure what was more obscure - the music or the drugs. There was harmaline and mescaline. Ketamine and elemicin. Even Kenyan khat and a some ortho-dots. No one was ever quite sure. The only thing we did more than drink & drug was DJ & dance."
