Do you remember when you'd be sitting there watching tele and suddenly the shit would hit the fan, the screen would cut to static, and some weird man would tell you they'd fix the problem and be back on air soon? How about long ago when the ABC would show that clock in between programs and play some tunes over it? SBS Weatherwatch, anyone?
This mixtape is dedicated to those seemingly throwaway records that the television techs would throw on while they undid the whoopsie the work experience kid did, or drove flat-chat up Mount Lofty to fix the transmitter in the pouring rain.
This mix is heavily influenced by a bevvy of wonderful U-matic, Beta and VHS rips I've encountered on YouTube that cover these exact uncertain moments when viewers remained puzzled, and control room techs remained frazzled. Secretly genius with just a hint of creepy vibes, this mix is a jumble of 1970s library and production music, moog and electronica records and a few kitsch instrumental classics. Enjoy.
