Starts with some murky atmosphere from the Chernobyl score and a fully deconstructed rave track pulling itself back together (a borderline religious experience). Slick spacious hip-hop / club production from Deaton Chris Anthony. Unnerving spoken word from Puce Mary. Then it’s a mixed bag of genres but ultimately the pounding heart of a techno mix lies within.
Highlights: Two of the best minimal tracks I’ve ever heard (and I’ve heard a lot): In Private and ‘Argos’. Amazing lolloping wonk rap by Zelooperz. And two etermal masterpieces. One by genius, polymath and modern day cultural historian Great Dad. And the other is ‘unstoppable object’ Lingua Ignota who will hold you in place and pummel you with audio.
Special mention to Quinine whose unassuming folk tune goes toe to toe with anything else here. Beautiful.
