Gawd I've been enjoying doing this (so far)
Mixing needs A LOT OF WORK; selection is where my attention goes.
Here's a list of what I learned from my failures in this mix :
- learn to craft a story within the mix
- need for vocal quotes
- learn to loop out of a song
- silence is ok, stop rushing to flll it with something
- my first few listens to a new mix is HIGHLY CRITICAL (take it easy, me)
- watch out for hamonic dissonance when mixing (not just beatmatching issues)
- something's wrong with overall audio quality (too look into)
- when mixing in a new track , cue both tracks in headphones so as to have the mix IN YOUR HEAD)
