Welcome Kind Stranger - Raggle Taggle Gypsey #49

This show is a personal look at the history of traditional Irish music from the 1950s, and its development and growth through the folk revival of the 60's and 70's up to the beginning of the 1990's. We keep a keen eye on the Ensembles and groups as they developed and honed the sound of this ancient music right up to the beginning of the modern era. This is part 1 in at least a 2 part series where we take a look at the influence that the likes of Sean O'Riarda, Seamus Ennis and the great Ceoltóirí Chualann had on the younger musicians and visionaries who went on to form the likes of Planxty, The Chieftains, The Bothy band and beyond. It's fun, interesting and filled with great music and song.
