Music played on the eve that I held for the Totnes Dance Collective on Monday Aug 12th '24, with over 60 dancers this warm evening in the Civic Hall, Totnes.
A varied selection of tracks woven together including my own field recordings.
As I regularly dance at these evenings I wanted to bring people together through the music. This particular evening had many regular dancers plus new faces as people pass through during the summer months.
After we'd ended I had so many people come to say superlative words to describe their enjoyment of dancing to this selection. Thank you all who came and to all the musicians whose music I played.
Note: There are some volume drops when I lowered the music volume so I could speak to the gathering: although I adjusted up the longest lowered section post production you may still hear it. There might be other audio glitches as I didn't listen to the entire mix before uploading.

I had an outdoor dance this morning (Sunday 18th Aug), but messed up with not recording it!
So this 'stupendous' mix will have to do for another week.
Thanks for all who've listened.

Thank you Jody for listening.
Yes, Monday evening was "stupendous", this word being used by someone (one of many) who came up to me at the end who had only ever thought that a dance has to have a really "banger" for him to feel satisfied.
I did feel aided by the unseen realm that evening.
Also I want to say something about the folk track, 'Widecombe Fayre', near the end of this session. This is a song I learned at school many, many, many decades back. It is a well-known folk song and the recording I use is a recently released reinterpretion by a group of young early 20s people, that go by the name 'Goblin Band' (find them on Bandcamp). They were staying in a nearby house to where I live and one day I walked past hearing such amazing singing coming through an open window. I also really like that they all dress in clothes they make themselves.
Their actual song is longer: I had to end it earlier to fit the time allotted to the evening's dance.
This session was also in memory of friend Megan Williams who died the previous day.
I usually make the Totnes Dance Collective recordings exclusive to encourage people to subscribe to my Mixcloud profile. However, as I messed up with recording the dance I held the day before on 11th August, this one is offered instead for all to hear.
