The first time I heard African music and Afrobeat and took notice I was kind of hooked, but truthfully the first Afrobeat I heard was only in the last 7-8 years and I heard it coming out of my car radio played on a local Melbourne community radio station called PBSfm.
I liked the extended tracks, the wildness of its rhythms, the raw funkiness of it and I liked how I hear it emanating through other music from other places, like from Melbourne's own 'Public Opinion Afro Orchestra' and from New York with the 'Analog Players Society'.
This set is not about pushing boundaries or discovering new hidden gems but about sharing what I like about Afro music, both the old and new.

Megaton & African Rhythms are big classics for me. I still remember they were on a comp' called Africa Funk, released by Harmless Records back in 1998, which introduced me to the genre ;-) Then, I discovered Fela and so this conscious world of African jazz and funk!

although i have to say the song @ 23:00 minutes has pretty great sounds coming from the lyrics..i only speak english so i can't say i know what's being said, but it sounds GREAT..

PLEASE DO A PART TWO!!!!!! Personally i prefer no lyrics when the instrumentals are as good as these songs... if thats not possible for part two, maybe a PART 3 (Instrumentals version) might be in order. i absolutely love this mix regardless, so you ahve my vote for a part 2. Great stuff!!! Do you by chance have this as a freeDL anywhere?

The sweetness mix all day .. This ones called to heart the riches cultures of ancient African.. Whenever look or seek comfort in the enjoys to be black I contemplate over the historical lives and rhythms : though there several positive thing are emerging out modern day Africa a lot of the understandings teachings and minds of earth original people are poison.. Thanks for digging at the core aspects and roots ; )
