1. Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

MisstaMelodic began a musical career of pressing buttons, starting out discovering tones and harmonics on a dusty detuned upright. MisstaMelodic always enjoyed the performing part of music; pressing the buttons. When scouring the internet in elementary school electronic music jumped out in a very melodic, late 90s trance, from the early days of tiesto and Armin van Burren. Decoding the melodies on piano fueled a synthesis addiction.

With a sound that effortlessly blends high-energy beats and euphoric melodies, MisstaMelodic draws inspiration from the likes of James Hype, Seven Lions, Illenium, griffin, Rezz, Above & Beyond and many more. MisstaMelodic brings an innovative vibe, a library of progressive melodies surrounded by interchanging steppy beats. Shifting back and forth from EDM and hip hop/rap/metal MisstaMelodic was always obsessed with the high bpm of a double kick drum, smashing trash crashes; the nu-metal intensity mixed with D&B and elements of riddim. Trolling the early 00s World Wide Web, MisstaMelodic’s early tastes included, Deep dish; flash dance, Eric prydz; call on me, Armand van helden; my my my and Armin van buuren; burned with desire.

MisstaMelodic’s obsession of seamless mixing, carving trancy melodies around melodic drumlines and riffing solo synth lines is seen in Melodic Misuse, a livestream on Mixcloud. Melodic Misuse is the curation of unforgettable adventures captivating performances, showcasing to an audience with infectious energy. 2. Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?

My career has meandered and zig zagged from production jobs to creative production roles. The journey of any artist is never smooth, at first. The turbulence along the journey includes the hurdles of success. The abrasive beginning steps are crucial to sculpting. As a carpenter planes a surface, cutting away and letting go, the habit becomes the smoothing process; the never-ending hurdles which begin to pave a smoother trail.

I find my creativity is at its highest when switching gears from rigging/programming lights to performing technical riffs and knob performances live, always, in the heat of the moment. The perfection of a pre-recorded show flattens all my authenticity. It’s the nuanced ‘flow’ MisstaMelodic releases and lets go. Society is so hungry for originality, in the moment, MisstaMelodic desires to conjure melodic riffs that slap and flow helping society let go.

3. We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?

MisstaMelodic is most known for being in the present, playing in the sandbox, and not letting perfection destroy the technical vision. A mastermind obsessed with sound, melody, rhythm, and color, MisstaMelodic erratically syncs polyrhythms while mashing harmonics being sure each idea is, in this moment, one that will never repeat itself.

I think what sets MisstaMelodic apart from the competition is the technical knowledge on pushing technical boundaries mixed with melodic decisions, busking frequencies, and letting the music and tech flow with the motion of lights and screens.

4. How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you? How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?

Collaboration is even easier in todays online age. Being able to sync ableton projects is a huge professional tool allowing artists to exchange ideas more freely. Of course being in person is best but being able to send project files that sync in real time to edits is very helpful when making music.

Modern music production isn’t anywhere near traditional studios or record labels, the ease of modern home VST libraries has almost replaced the need for large studio bills. Crafting ideas on Ableton has been my sandbox to play with sounds. A sound design, meshing harmonics and tweaking cutoffs and sustain graphs.
