HiNRG singer Evelyn Thomas passed away on 21 July 2024 and although never a personal favourite her tracks were very popular in the clubs of the 1980s and I wanted to do a tribute to her. So we kick off with her best known single "High Energy". It must have taken some confidence on the part of producer Ian Levine to name the track after a whole genre of music, but that's what he did and I guess it paid off becoming a huge global hit as well as a template for many HiNRG tracks over the next couple of years.

Of note among the other tracks is Stronger by Cliff Richard, which was his second single for Stock Aitken & Waterman. This is a rather forgotten collaboration now and, although I like both Cliff's dance tracks, they were fairly generic SAW productions, and did not particularly play to Cliff's specific style.

My only regret about this mix is letting the one less dancey track, Love Supreme, go on too long. So more time to make a cuppa if you get that far!
