"Soul Army" A Classic Funk Mixtape

This dive into the funkiest corners of my collection blends 22 classics from the 70's & 80's.

Inspiration came when listening to the "Classic P-Funk Mastercuts" compilation, which heavily features George Clinton as both performer, and producer for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Well Red tracks. No apologies for including two "Camille" era Prince tunes off of "Sign O' The Times" - the album that converted me into a massive fan. James Brown, Parliament, Rick James, Kool & The Gang and Cameo are all funk essentials, and there's classic tracks from The Gap Band, Tom Browne, Maceo & The Macks, Roy Ayres & Ernie K. Doe. I threw in a blast of the funkiest TV theme tune ever, and some personal favourites from Ronnie Hudson and General Caine.
