"Rapper's Delight" An 80's Boom Box Classics Mixtape

Back in the day, my friend had a boom box (we just called it a "Box") that took 18 "D" batteries. We could barely carry it! This "mixtape" covers the birth of Hip Hop '79 to '87 and includes some of the tracks we used to blast on it!

There's a little of bit of all the ingredients that helped define the genre.The earliest Disco-Rap hits from The Sugarhill Gang and Blondie. Rap pioneers Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five. Scratch classics by Malcolm McClaren, Steinski & Mass Media and GLOBE & Whiz Kid. Electro/Club bangers from Afrika Bambaataa and Newcleus. Call & Response classic by Rock Master Scott & The Dynamic Three. Doug E Fresh's beatboxing, Spoonie G's brags, Boogie Down Productions' diss track, and Gary Byrd's (with Stevie Wonder) empowerment anthem (not all 10+ minutes though). And memories of the Run DMC with the Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim and LL Cool J (in that order) gigs I went to in '87 Brighton.
