This mix-tape includes most of my favourite "Sampling" tunes from the late 80's.
1985 - Paul Hardcastles "19" is a world-wide hit and "This Is Big Audio Dynamite" is released. I can still quote all "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" dialogue sampled on "Medicine Show" today.
1986 - I'm still into "The Art of Noise", and I bought umpteen versions of "Love Missile F1-11" because they kept adding more "Blade Runner" quotes.
From '87 onwards sampling is everywhere. I've included favourites from M/A/R/R/S, Bomb The Bass, Coldcut & S'Express. Piss-takers Pop Will Eat Itself and The JAM's. House classics from The DTI, Criminal Element Orchestra & The Residents. The awesome Beatmasters remix of Depeche Mode. The one decent Stock-Aitken-Waterman track. Oh, and I was deliberately excluding hip-hop from this mix, but I did sneak in something to represent the Beastie Boys sampling classic "Pauls Boutique".
I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed this mix. I hope you like it too 🤖
